Last week TROLLEYS, Shaun Parker’s work involving 5 supermarket trolleys, made its Australian debut as part of Perth’s Awesome Festival. Choreographed by Shaun Parker, performed by 5 dancers from Perth’s Buzz Dance Theatre and set to a driving score by Nick Wales, TROLLEYS descended on the forecourt of the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts for 6 performances last weekend.
In this immensely physical outdoor work, high-octane contemporary dance, acrobatics and street dance merge with the extraordinary world of the trolleys as they spin, glide and slide. Carts randomly appear. Two meet and fall in love, one lone cart grapples to find a friend, and three others revolt and ignite a dance of anarchy.
Congratulations to Buzz Dance Theatre and C-12’s Dance Theatre’s Annie-Lunnette Deakin-Foster on this Awesome run!
