CALLOUT: MANDARIN CHINESE TRANSLATOR

 

 

Shaun Parker & Company is seeking a skilled Sydney-based Mandarin Chinese translator to join our major work-in-development. This exciting project involves collaboration between our company and a renowned Taiwanese artist.

Project Details:

Planned Developments:

• 19th August until 7th September
• 25th November until 11th January (with days off on public holidays: Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day)
• Location: Sydney

Responsibilities:

• Translate script drafts from English to Traditional Chinese.
• Translate emails, marketing materials, and creative text.
• Translate Zoom meetings leading up to each development.

Requirements:

• Exceptional fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English at a native speaker level.
• Demonstrated experience in theatrical concepts and terminology.
• Hands-on experience working in rehearsal rooms alongside directors, creatives and artists.
• Proficiency in facilitating seamless creative collaboration in rehearsal spaces and during production preparations.
• Understanding of dramaturgy and theatrical writing.
• Familiarity with cross-cultural communication nuances, especially between Chinese and Western artistic contexts, to foster productive collaboration between the company and the Taiwanese artist.
• Preferably, the capability to adapt flexibly beyond scheduled development dates.
• Must be based in Sydney, NSW.

 Salary:

• Negotiable
