TROLLEYS

About the production

Part dance. Part ballet. Part outdoor spectacle.  Trolleys is a new ballet for five supermarket trolleys. Five shopping trolleys randomly appear in a public space. Two meet and fall in love. One grapples to find a friend. Three others revolt and ignite a dance of anarchy.

Trolleys spin, glide and slide in this highly physical, humorous outdoor performance where high-octane contemporary dance, acrobatics and street dance merge with the extraordinary world of trolleys. Score composed by Nick Wales.

Trolleys was produced by C-12 Dance Theatre and Shaun Parker & Company.

Set to a pulsating score, it was heart warming and heartbreaking at the same time. This was art accessible for the masses.

TROLLEYS – A Brilliant Performance… Spellbound!

Egomedia Australia

The five dancers chose the era of mass consumption to tame its main attribute: the supermarket trolley! Two males challenge each other, the herd closes its ranks around a lone trolley, and the dancers spin and hurl the trolleys in a percussive urban dance! TROLLEYS makes you want to go on other races around the radius of Circonova, and to get refreshed by energy and daring!

Quimper, France

While people are drawn into this narrative, it is the athleticism in the way the dances use their everyday prop that is spellbinding, not unlike other forms of street performance such as breakdancing to urban skaters.
