About the production
Spill is an outdoor production by Shaun Parker created specifically for playgrounds, aiming to take dance to the heart of our local communities. Combining quirky, dynamic dance with high energy street gymnastics, the dancers in this performance blaze a colourful trail across the structures and landscapes of the playground. Each performance is unique, as the show scrambles around, over, under and through swings, slides and roundabouts. Kids will love it, grown-ups will love it too!
Created as a ten part series for the BBC’s THE SPACE channel, funded by the Arts Council of England. Spill toured to New York City in July 2014 for City Parks Foundation and their SummerStage Festival and Central Park Conservancy’s Sandbox Program.
In 2013 Spill made its Australian debut as part of the City of Sydney’s Art & About festival.
In 2012 Spill was part of the Outdoor Dance Programme, led by DanceXchange, in partnership with Dancefest, Dancescape and Dudley Performing Arts. This production was programmed as part of Dancing for the Games and the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. Spill was performed in 36 locations and 112 performances across the UK.
