Shaun Parker & Company is an exhilarating and bold new Australian dance company that has exploded onto the international dance scene, but it’s so much more than ‘dance’, or what people perceive as dance.
The Daily Telegraph describes Parker’s work as:
so cutting edge it actually wanders off the edge of any single-word definition…
With just two years since its inception, the company has already toured the UK, France, The Netherlands and Australia, including a sold out season at London’s prestigious dance house Sadler’s Wells, as well as creating two new works for the 2012 London Cultural Olympiad.
Parker’s commitment to education and community outreach is evident through his work in Western Sydney with the teenagers of Captivate. The Yard, a work inspired by William Golding’s Lord of the Flies and featuring 33 culturally diverse and newly immigrated teenagers, received the 2012 Australian Dance Award and featured on Foxtel’s STUDIO documentary series.
Just like Parker’s festival hit, This Show is About People, this Company is about people: people of all cultures, linguistic backgrounds, talents, ages and environments, from all walks of life and locations around the world. Parker makes stimulating and uplifting work that connects with humanity.
We are currently seeking donations from people who want to support the growth of great Australian performing arts and artists. Your generosity will contribute toward the employment of exceptional musicians and dancers and will build our outstanding Education Program.
